Localcut Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026 · Covers the web version at www.breyes.net/localcut and the Android app Localcut (net.breyes.localcut)
Localcut is a video editor that works only on your device. The videos, photos and music you pick, the voice you record, your captions and your project contents are all read, edited and exported on the device, and are never sent to our servers or to anyone else. There is no sign-up or login, and we use no cookies, ads, analytics or tracking tools.
1. Data that stays on your device
| Data | When | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Videos, photos and music you pick | When you tap Import | Web: a copy in the browser's private storage for this site (OPFS). Copies not used for 14 days are deleted automatically App: a copy in the app's storage, or permission to reopen the original file |
| Voice recorded with the microphone | Only when you tap voice recording and allow the microphone | Same place as above. Used only to add it to your project |
| Captions, edits and the project list | Saved automatically while you edit | Same place as above |
| Options (such as the speed range and language) and display settings | When you change them | Web: browser localStorage · App: the app's storage |
| Exported videos and project files (.localcut) | When you tap Export or Save to file | A folder you choose (on the web, the browser's download location) |
Editing features such as face tracking and mosaic, caption rendering and video encoding are also computed on the device. We have no access to any of this data.
2. What the web version downloads
The web version never sends your data; it only downloads the editor itself.
- Editor page and code: downloaded from www.breyes.net (our server, located in the Republic of Korea). Once downloaded, the code is kept in the browser's Cache Storage (service worker) so the editor also opens offline.
- Fonts and editing engine files (caption fonts, the face-tracking model, encoders): downloaded from cdn.breyes.net the first time they are needed. This address is a delivery network operated by Cloudflare, Inc. and may route through servers outside Korea.
These servers keep ordinary access logs such as the access time, IP address, requested file address and browser/OS type. Retention and international transfer (Cloudflare) are as described in sections 2 and 5 of the BREYES Privacy Policy. These logs never contain the videos or projects you edit.
3. When the app uses the internet
The app carries the editor, fonts and engines inside it and does not use the internet while you edit. It only asks Google Play whether a new version is available (in-app updates), which is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Permissions
- Microphone (web and app): the browser or device asks only when you use voice recording. If you decline, everything else still works.
- Persistent storage (web): we ask once for "persistent storage" so the browser does not delete your projects when the device runs low on space. If it is refused, the editor works as before.
- Notifications / foreground service (app): export progress is shown as a notification so exporting continues when the screen is off or you switch to another app.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your information or provide it to third parties.
6. Deletion
Deleting a project from the project list erases its contents. On the web, clearing the site data for www.breyes.net in your browser settings erases everything; in the app, uninstalling the app does. Since we store no user data on our servers, there is nothing to request deletion of. Before clearing site data, export any work you want to keep as a project file (.localcut) or a video.
7. Children
Localcut is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in the Republic of Korea) and does not collect children's personal information.
8. Privacy officer and contact
Privacy officer: BREYES · contact@breyes.net
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will post it on this page with its effective date. This is a translation of the Korean original; if they differ, the Korean original prevails.
